My 400th blog post is also my last of 2011, Hmmmm.

Football.

20 markets. No reds. Did well this week. My best green being a back of over 7.5 on Barcelona v Lhospitalet after goal 7. I figured the 8th was coming soon and sure enough less than 10 mins later.
Just finished my Christmas eve fun with the Scottish games and that's me until Boxing day. There are currently 3 matches in-play for Christmas day but come on.... really!.

That's it for me until after the year. Normal Blogging will resume on the 9th of January when I round up my festive period results.

Have a Merry(Green) Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody.

I totally forgot to do write the end of week blogpost so here's two in one.

Football.

58 markets. No reds. All the green is a welcome sight but I had a narrow escape in the Fulham v Odense BK last week. Fortunately I had gone in slightly earlier than usual and had just scraped out before the last gasp goal.

I made a withdrawal mid week to aid in the festive budget but thanks to the good weekend I'm almost back to pre-withdrawal levels. Let's hope the run to xmas stays green.

I hope no one has been to snowed in this week. Here in Edinburgh we've had very little. Not very festive but easier going if you work outdoors. Driving North, South, and West of the city last week and I saw plenty of it in places.

Keep it green everybody.

The weekend update totally slipped my mind, I've not been well.

Football.

38 markets. 1 red of £5.73. Another weekend, another red, another Italian match. Napoli v Lecce, a fluke header of the final corner in the dying seconds of the game taking it from 4-1 to 4-2. No one bothered to even celebrate the goal on the pitch as it made sod all difference to anything except my outcome. These things happen.

This Flu has been a rough one but I'm beginning to feel better. Only brief flurries of snow so far, let's hope it stays that way and the whole country doesn't grind to a halt.

40 markets. 1 red of £11.50. My first red in 2 weeks. I knew it was coming and thankfully I didn't cause it out of stupidity or recklessness. It was the Atalanta v Napoli game that had 3 min of stoppage on the clock but the ref let it go on till a goal was scored at 3:45. Hate it when that happens but sadly seen it before. Just another one of the perils. I didn't let it send me over the edge though. I just got on with it.

39 markets. No reds again. I did have a couple of close calls though so I mustn't become too complacent.

I had to make another withdrawal so my account is at a low ebb again. The small stakes will continue for a bit.

My abstinence from tennis paid off yet again as The Nadal v Fish match is precisely the kind of match I would have lost money on. I'd have probably backed Nadal after he won the first set 6-2, then hung on for grim life through his loss of the 2nd, panic redded out when he went behind in the third and his price went out beyond 3.5, only to see him scrape victory in the end. Too much drama for me. Steer well clear.

I had recovered my first red from early in the week and was heading for a reasonable green end when yet again I greened out without checking to see if I had set the staking mode back to stake from liability. Instead of greening out I gave myself a full stake red. What a fanny!.

28 markets. 1 red of £40.31. A very sore point as this should technically not have been a red. There was no late goal, my exit point was reached and taken. However, being the muppet that I am I had forgotten to change the staking mode from liability , after my last start of match overs trade, to stake. Instead of laying a £40 stake to green out I layed a £40 liability and I didn't notice as I was looking at another match when it ended. I was so annoyed with myself. A green trade turned red due to lack of focus. The lack of decent markets this weekend didn't help my recovery. I should be happy that I brought the red down as far as I did. Learn, LEARN!!!.

Bloody Virgin. Internet went down about 4pm on Sunday and didn't come back on until I got home from work on Monday evening. It's amazing how much it's become part of everyday life. I had to use my phone connection as a wifi hotspot to get online while keeping one eye on the data counter.

Football.

61 markets. 2 reds totalling £77.83. I was a bit miffed at these. I went from £40 green to £37 red in the space of 20 mins. The first was unavoidable but the second was my partly my fault. I'd been avoiding the smaller low liquidity leagues and sticking to main matches. I'd just missed out on a green in the Spanish premier league and should have just left it till next match when I noticed that a Danish match was in it's last couple of minutes. I should have left it alone but I think I was still bugged by the first red. There was video and reasonable liquidity so I waited patiently and made my move, only to see a last second goal. It's annoying but these things happen. Other than that I kept it together and did pretty well over the weekend.

I'm not looking forward to this weeks forecast heatwave. I was glad to see the back of summer and be into cooler temps.

61 markets. 3 reds totaling £184.69. Not my finest weekend. I took a stupid red early on Saturday morning when I entered a market in a rush without fully evaluating it. I ground my way back into green by the end of Saturday but then took a large red on West Brom's early goal on Sunday. Much larger than it should have been because I was outside of staking plan, AGAIN. I made matters worse by getting reckless straight afterwards and taking another red. At this point all discipline fled and I began reckless full bank in and out throughout matches which enabled me to recover large chunks of my red but it was all pure luck and I could have easily gone busto. Ridiculous!.

About the only thing I did right this weekend was stay clear of the tennis. I'm betting a lot of people lost sizable sums on Djoko's comeback against 2 MP's. I think the same would be true of people lumping on against Stosur during the controversy at the beginning of set 2 as she faced an enraged Serena. Disgraceful scenes from what is supposedly a pro athlete. I'll watch the Final tonight but won't be entering the market.

Again I've turned what should have been a green weekend into a mess through carelessness and lack of discipline. Now I have to reign my reckless tendencies in and carry on. A new day and all that.

11 markets. 2 reds totalling £52.47. One of the reds was pre-match positions on Murray that I had to red out due to the rain. The other was Kerber v Pennetta. Utter madness having anything to do with that match the way it was flip flopping all over the place.

A big weekend of football ahead and little tennis to interfere. I'm done with the tennis after the US open. It takes too much time and usually ends up costing me. I don't have the discipline to red out when a position goes against me. Probably because I've seen so many comebacks from players way behind. Time to just leave it alone.

I was sitting last night, eyes drooping, trying to decide what to do about either the Murray or Isner matches when I just decided to leave it alone and go to bed. Both took their matches in straight sets, as I was reasonably sure they would, but I didn't want to sit up and wait.

43 markets. No reds. A good weekend. I did struggle to stay on track with what was happening in other areas but I didn't stray.

Tennis.

5 markets. 1 red of £67.54. What the hell is wrong with me?. I said NO TENNIS!. I'd had a decent day with the football on Saturday and was planning to hit the hay when I thought ' I'll just have a look at what is happening with Sharapova v Zvonareva'. Fatal mistake. After watching for a couple of mins, yes a whole couple of mins, I decided to do a quick lay of Zvonareva on Sharapova's serve and green it out after a couple of ticks but it went against me and I took a red. Instead of letting it go I end up fully involved in the match trying to 'recover' the red and sit till 3am on a knife edge and end up taking a 30% loss of bank. Utter madness. One of the worst matches I have ever seen. I also did a few tennis matches on Sunday and managed to dig my way back too green overall but the Jankovic v Sharapova match was no better in terms of play. If I had left the tennis alone I would have had solid green for the weekend on the football, more than I ended up with as I missed many matches while staring at the tennis. I don't know what I'm thinking sometimes.

I promise myself now that I will not get involved in any of the minor tennis tourneys that are on this week. Football only.

In other news...

I have fixed my 32" lcd tv. It's been broken for 6 months and I've been using an old 15" CRT monitor for the duration. I knew what the problem was, most likely, and I knew where to get the replacement part to fix it but at £40 I was uncertain if it was worth spending that to fix a 6 year old 32" 720p tv when I could get a 22" 1080p monitor to replace it for £100. I've been thinking about downsizing a bit in preparation to change living circumstances. I had reassembled the tv and took pictures of it to put on ebay as spare or repair when I went to the parts website to get the link so I could put that in the ebay ad. When I pulled it up I saw that the part had been reduced in price to £25. After a bit of indecision I decided to order it. It came, I installed, it worked. WooHoo!!. It's nice to have my big screen back again and it puts off the outlay for the 22" monitor. When the time comes to move I can flog the fully functional tv on ebay for more than I paid for the part I'm sure. Nice to have something go my way for a change.

Unfortunately I have to make a sizable withdrawal in terms of bank percentage by tomorrow evening at the latest. My real life bank account needs it. I have to try and not let that affect my thinking either before or after during this weeks activities. I must stay focused.

Tennis.

19 markets. 2 reds totalling £5.84. Quite a few scratch trades as well. I had said I would avoid the tennis and I should have despite the green I ended with. There were a few matches that I should have taken a small red on and foolishly didn't. Nadal v Verdasco and Djoko v Monfils being the obvious examples. The fact that I came out green does not excuse my poor judgement. No tennis for me this weekend.

I'm absolutely knackered. After last night's late green out on Djoko I had to get up early this morning to wait for a delivery which I'm still waiting for. This comes after getting up early for same said delivery yesterday which didn't arrive. Add to that all the 5 am wake up calls my neighbours have been giving me this week with their bloody noise and I'm a gibbering wreck. I'm going to have to be careful with my football action today.

63 markets. 1 red of £8.96. The only blip in my weekend. This was caused by the Blackpool v Peterborough match not going in-play. This used to be a common event on Betfair but in recent times it's much rarer. I had layed over 1.5 prematch with the intention of greening out 1-2 ticks later. This would have successfully completed had the match gone in play. Betfair did post a message in the forum 10 mins in saying the match would not be in-play and they would open the markets again at HT. This left me with my fingers crossed hoping for no goals or just one goal before HT. It looked like I was on course for a big green until a goal in the 44th min left me redding out at HT for a 6 tick red. I guess I should be happy it wasn't an entire stake loss but I'm annoyed about how BF do things. I've said it before that they could easily let interested parties know if a match was going to be suspended due to technical difficulties before it begins, but the would miss out on commission from trading money so they keep quiet. I guess it's just the nature of the beast when using BF.

Apart from this it was a good weekend. I stayed the course, let nothing bother me , and kept grinding out my 1-2 ticks at the beginning and end of matches. I steered clear of the the tennis. I was reasonably sure of Djoko beating Tsonga and Fish but decided just to leave it alone.

I hope to continue in the same vein.

Keep it green everybody.

P&L for 08/08/11-12/08/11

Football : 6.21
Tennis : -7.83

P&L since last post : -1.62

Football.

Just 15 markets this week. 1 red of £5.92. I didn't have much time for it this week.

Tennis.

12 markets. 2 reds totalling £27.43. Another up/down flip/flop week for the tennis. It's been commented on many forums that the Rogers has been a tough one for the tennis with so many 'big names' losing. I'm not sure why I bother with the tennis. I think it stems from greed and boredom, neither of which is a good thing.

It's probably best with the return of the main leagues that I concentrate on football from now on. Keep it tight and take no unnecessary risks. Maybe have a dabble in the US open when it comes but avoid the smaller tennis tourneys.

Keep it green everybody.

No tennis worth looking at this weekend. Probably not a bad thing. I'm on holiday for 3 weeks and lot's to do on the home front. I'll probably be working harder at home than I do at work.

18 markets. 1 red of £14.37 at the start of the week. Ground it out through the rest of the week.

Tennis.

20 markets. No reds. Still struggling to leave these small tourneys alone. Several were bit iffy. It could have easily gone the other way.

Many of the main leagues kicking off this weekend. More liquidity in the markets and faster movements. Let's see how we go.

19 markets. No reds. A fairly busy week with UEFA matches. Starting to see the football coupons look busier.

Tennis.

18 markets. 2 reds totalling £18.62. I really need to stay away from WTA. Nothing but a pain in the arse. Pure gambling.

A welcome green week after foolish reds.

A busy week in other areas. Hit back at the flab hard this week. Daily activity on my Xtrainer in addition to my usual cycling. Weather was a bit hot for my liking, even hotter next week unfortunately.

Into the weekend we go.

45 markets. 5 reds totalling £33.82. One of these taken intentionally as I could see it might be a problem. The rest were just unfortunate. I started the weekend well and made a bit of green but then it went sour and I was battling all weekend.

Tennis.

5 markets. No reds. Quiet weekend with only small tournaments.

Not a good weekend coming hot on the heels of last week. Nothing for it but to plod onward.

Not a good week.

Football.

42 markets. 3 reds totalling £80.80. I could have avoided 2 of these reds and were brought about mainly due to impatience and not paying attention.

Tennis.

12 markets. 1 red of £50.00. A misclick saw me double stake and then the market chose just that point to run away from me. I did a pointless cross fingers and hope, which as usual didn't come to anything, rather than take the red and it cost me dearly. AGAIN!.

There are times I think I'm incapable of learning. My bank has been laid very low by this weeks reds. Back to grinding out small profits.

Football : -51.91

P&L since last post : -55.62

I'm like a self fulfilling prophecy or something.

Football.

27 markets. 2 reds totalling £93.92. The first was totally avoidable, too early and too big a stake. The second was standard and wouldn't have stung so much if it wasn't for the other reds.

Tennis.

7 markets. 1 red of £24.73. A classic WTA flip flop which I became caught up in out of my own greed and stupidity.

It's easy to sit here now and think about the fact that I wouldn't have come in red if I had not taken avoidable losses but somehow at the time I don't seem able to see it.

The week has been harsh to me in other areas. My Galaxy S took a 1 foot drop onto the floor from the sofa and knackered the screen. I had to order another one express delivery, which thankfully arrived this morning. You have to order the whole unit. Glass, display, and digitizer for £88. It's a little worrying how bereft I felt without my phone. It's my books, my music, my web on the go. I will be fitting it after this post. Lots of glue and the use of a scalpel blade imminent according to the web guides. This unfortunate outlay has pushed back plans for my new monitor. I have decided it isn't cost effective to repair my knackered 32" lcd tv and I'm going to get a 22" full HD monitor, my 32" was only 720p. I'll be stuck with the old 15" crt for now and my laptop.

26 markets. No reds again. I'm very happy with that. I find these friendly matches a little frustrating. They have little to no liquidity.

Tennis.

5 markets. No reds. Despite making green on the Tennis I'm not happy about some of the trades I made and the matches I got involved in. There was far too much risk. I really need to leave the Tennis alone.

Bank is just shy of 3 figures now. I'm pleased with progress but become fearful of impending red. I must try not to let it get to me and stay patient.

An earlier than usual weekend report 'cause I'm BUSTO!!. AGAIN!!!

Football.

10 markets. No reds.

Tennis.

3 markets. 2 reds totalling £142.77. A small green on Kvitova early on in the Saturday final. I wasn't willing to risk it any further. If only I'd had that attitude in the Men's final. Long and short of it, A pre match back of Nadal ended in a red after the first break and then a big chase on Djoko 3-0 at the end of the second set lost me the rest after Djoko turned to crap. Again I've been a total idiot and gone chasing reds when I should just be patient and disciplined.

So no Betfair for me for the next 5 days or so as I cannot afford to redeposit anything. This is probably a good thing as I'm in no state to be sensible and disciplined. As I sit here I'm enduring the scum upstairs stomping back and forward endlessly and the scum in the next block playing loud music. No peace anywhere. I'm at my wits end.

So 5 days off and then hopefully when I come back I'll be in a better frame of mind.

17 markets. No reds. A quiet week on the football as most of my time has been spent on Wimbledon.

Tennis.

16 markets. 2 reds totalling £162.24. A big red on Woz to start the week. A bit of chasing later and I'm back to green only for Nadal to throw away the third set against Fish giving me another big red. Back to green by the end of the week though. What a mess. I must steer clear of set betting.

The finals of Wimbledon are upon us. Sharapova is the fav, Really!. She looked dire at the beginning of her semi. Even when she got a bit better the DF's were a bit much. I have no idea who will take the men's final. I will be watching though.

14 markets. 1 red of £39.15. Kind of annoyed about the red. It was one of those seconds after my back went in goal where the defenders just stood there and looked bored as the ball went in. At the start of the Sunday it had me chasing a bit. I got lucky, foolish , but lucky.

Tennis.

12 markets. no reds. A big result from Saturday's tennis taking the bank to new heights.

As I type this on Monday afternoon it's clear that the Tennis giveth and the tennis taketh away. Just took a half bank red on Wozniacki. Ridiculous.

Just 9 markets this week. 2 reds totalling £24.22. The reds are much harder to recover from with so few matches .

Tennis.

21 matches. 1 red of £25.00. A poor showing from Wawrinka in his first round match. I was more heavily involved with the tennis than I'd planned. The rain didn't help , leaving me stuck with open positions overnight and tying up funds more than once.

The weekend tennis should go without a hitch as there is no rain forecast. Let's try and have a good weekend.

Only 10 markets this week but no reds thankfully. Very limited options this week unless youth and womens matches is your thing.

Tennis.

17 markets. 3 reds totalling £65.00. Started the week with a loss and followed a pattern of break even-loss-break even-loss. Quite frustrating but I resisted foolishness.

6 Matches. 1 red of £40.81. A foolishly large stake to put on someone like Gimeno-Traver. He really looked at times like he couldn't be bothered. I should have redded it much sooner. I was probably chasing madly at this point. Stupid!!.

I'll steer clear of the Queens final today, if it goes ahead. Murray should win but too uncertain.

Hmm, I guess I forgot to do the weekend blog post hence the reason for this 7 day one.

Football.

44 markets. 2 reds totalling £44.54. One large one at the start of the week and a smaller one later on. Actually surprised it's a green total.

Tennis.

21 matches. 3 reds totalling £113.69. Bloody NADAL!!. Took massive loss on 2-0 during his match against Stepanek and the another smaller one during his meltdown against Tsonga. My own stupidity for staking as much as I did, going anywhere near set betting, and being involved in such a late stage match. I was all green on Match Odds as well in the Stepanek match and it was just pure greed that made me go in on 2-0.

So another red due to lack of Discipline. Annoying that I made it into 3 figures and now I'm back to grinding a tiny bank again. A lot of safe grinding to be done.

13 markets. 3 reds totalling £108.54. A big red on the flip flop Li v Kvitova match not helped by the fact I double staked on a misclick and the price soared up before I could correct. After I missed chances to get out for a small red and took several in the back and forth. I also was one of the many who thought Djoko would pull it back against Fed.

So more loss from my own stupidity. Going to try and leave the tennis except for 1st and 2nd round matches. Don't know if it'll make much difference.

Just the 6 matches this weekend. No reds. Played it very safe. Hopefully that will continue to be the case.

So as we go into the football light/tennis heavy season what will be the best way to tackle it?. One very important goal is to not try to force too much out of what football there is as this will just lead to lots of red.

Tennis.

Just the 3 matches this weekend. No reds. Nothing special.

I must enter the very jaws of hell today. That's right - THE DENTIST!!. I haven't been to a dentist in 3 years after a I finally had enough of the useless ignorant reception staff at my NHS dentist. Fortunately there is another NHS dentist not too far away and I've been meaning to go and join since they opened. Now I have no choice. A filling fell out of one of my wisdom teeth when it disintegrated a couple of weeks ago and now the gum is growing over the top of what's left of the tooth. Not a good thing. I was told years ago that it needed to come out but the thought of the operation at the dental hospital was more than I could bear at the time. I have awful teeth. If I could afford to have them all ripped out and replaced with implants I'd do it. One of my lottery/make-a-fortune-on-trading dreams.

Still all over the place.

Football

24 markets. 1 red of £79.50. A ridiculous red caused by me chasing after a tennis loss. I laid under 1.5 on a South American cup match for maximum liability at the start of the match aiming to get a couple of big ticks but an early goal caused a massive red. Stupidity.

Tennis.

A roller coaster week. 4 reds totalling £172.71. Started with me attempting to backing Bartoli 2-0 towards the end of the Pironkova v Bartoli match on Monday, only for me to mistakenly back Bartoli 2-1. Total stake loss. Another red out on a bad decision on Tuesday. Things went okay until the Georges v Azarenka match on Wednesday when she retired after the first set. I was able to red out and save some of my stake on that one. A final small red on Thursday followed. I almost had to take a red on Safina on Friday but I rode that match to the end. Madness. It's weeks like this that have me swearing of the tennis. Doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

Not much else going on this week. Lot's of hot sunny weather which is not a favourite of mine but it seems to have cooled off a bit where I am. A 3 day weekend for Easter followed by a 3 day week and another long weekend, 'cause someone's getting married or something, will make work a little more bearable.

Tennis.

9 markets. 1 red of £13.19. Layed the favourite as the opponent served hoping to catch the rise but instead it went the other way and I took a small red.

A small green but still a green is the thing to focus on here. Still struggling to be patient and disciplined.

I took my laptop through to the other room to keep an eye on the Nadal v Melzer match on Sunday. I had told myself to remember that the battery would only go for an 1.5 hours or so and to not let it switch off. Of course I got caught up in what I was doing and when I looked over it was off. Nooooooo!. Regular readers will know that when that laptop goes off it will not turn back on again for some time (12-24 hours). I ordinarily leave it running 24/7. So it was dead to me for the rest of the day. My 32" TV being dead as well left me with just the 15" monitor on my desktop pc to use for everything. Bloody annoying. It must be a capacitor charging issue like my TV had , also Acer crap, but I don't know which one to replace so I just have to put up with it for now. ASDA have been teasing me again with the emachines laptop I was looking at back around xmas time when this happened before. Down in price to £255. Not a bad spec for a budget laptop. Unfortunately there is no money around for that just now. Fortunately the laptop started up this morning.

33 markets. 2 reds totalling £26.81. Both reds came on Monday night after a fairly good day and it was a bit of a setback but I soldiered on.

Tennis.

15 matches. No reds, one scratched. I had to be a bit more adventurous than I would have preferred.

Bank is now approaching 3 figures. I'll be attempting to take care and safeguard my bank from recklessness but knowing me...

Lots of DIY done this week. Almost finished my bathroom off bar a few cosmetic touches. Still a lot to do.

Same old same old.

I'll eschew the usual format and just lay it all out.

Saturday started off as normal. Small red nothing major, recovered it. I was doing okay and had a bank of about £550 when I spotted that Starace appeared to have it in the bag against Hanescu and I foolishly backed 1.01 with full bank thinking I'd grab a quick fiver. I have no idea why I do things like this as I've seen 1.01 fall over and over again. I'd also watched none of the match and had no idea how the players were performing. Quite possibly the worst decision I've ever made. Of course Starace pissed away his 2 MP's and then lost the tie break. I should have taken a red the second I saw him not able to take a match point but I held on and had to red out for a massive loss early in the third set. Then began the chasing. I backed Hanescu when he broke Starace only for him to break back and make my red bigger. I ended up taking £312 red on that match. Annoyingly Starace won in the end.
I then immediately blew what remained of my bank recklessly trading football. I began making small deposits(£50) to start the long recovery process but could not get my head straight and kept on doing ridiculous things that saw me losing even more. This culminated on Sunday with me having £62 in my bank and then all of a sudden having £5. WTF!. I had to go to the P&L screen to figure it out. Somehow as I was moving the mouse across the screen I clicked the over 6.5 goals market in the dying seconds of a match and backed it for £57 without noticing. Some layer got a lucky present. I did not deposit anymore and just played with what I had tearing it up to £20 by the end of the night.

So not the best of weekends. Mentally I was all over the place. Even with iron discipline and reasonable staking it probably would have been a red weekend with the results I was seeing but I should have limited my losses. A lot of money down the drain and the cycle repeats. I'm going to carry on just with what I have and not take it so seriously for a while. See where I go from here. I'm clearly still letting external factors push me into bad decisions and riding waves of luck that end up with me crashing.

Keep it green everybody.

Football.

27 markets. 2 reds totalling £98.43. A fairly standard week. One of the reds was avoidable if I'd been paying more attention. Ho Hum.

Tennis.

Well so much for staying away from the minor tennis tournaments. 36 markets. No reds but a couple scratched or greened out for pennies. I was very lucky this week and not holding on to positions and biting my nails helped. It could have gone very different on a couple of occasions. It's interesting how ,when one player is an uncertain favourite in the match, the market will rise sharply when their opponent scores even a single point. It might be something I have to keep an eye on.

It may yet be possible to save my tv. I have found a replacement inverter board on the web but it's £130. So do I spend that to replace the board or get a new tv for £250. I know it seems mad to spend £130 on a 5 year old tv but part of me rails against chucking out a device that 99% of works fine because of one small component. I am also planning to downsize my living arrangements and I may not want a 32" tv in 6-12 months time. Firstly I have to get the damn inverter board out though and one of the tiny screws has rounded off so it's incredibly careful drilling time.

I have a week off work(WOOHOO) but unfortunately there won't be much relaxing done. The DIY overshadows everything and I have to get major amounts done this week. I also need to take a day and give my motorbike it's post-winter-total-strip-down service. My mountain bike needs the same. All told I'll be working harder than I do when I'm at work.

I could use a good weekend with no or little reds. I really need to make a withdrawal but don't want to harm my healthy bank too much. Piggies crossed.

44 markets. 2 reds totalling £164.14. Not a bad weekend. It was going really well till the 2 reds came together on the Sunday afternoon. Kept my cool though.

Tennis.

Just the one venture on Djoko v Nadal. I managed not to get sucked into Nadal's early lead in the first set. I bet that left a lot of people with big reds. A quickie on Djoko as he took the lead in the tie break was all for me. Going to do my best to ignore the minor tournaments this week.

RIP Acer tv. I was able to get the capacitors I needed and they solved the original problem but a new one has cropped up that will be impossible to fix, so it's dead. I'll be rocking the 15" CRT for a while as the money isn't there for a new one.

I did no DIY at all this weekend which was very bad of me. I've got so much still to do.

31 markets. 2 reds totalling £167.91. A good week brought down by a hasty entry into a crap market with an oversized stake while not paying attention. At least the big leagues are back this weekend.

Tennis.

Yes, tennis all week. Unwise as it is I partook(??) of 11 matches. Scratched 2 of them when they became uncertain but did okay in the others. No nail biting. Don't know if I'll bother with the finals.

Disaster struck on Tuesday. A state of emergency was declared. My 5 year old 32 inch LCD packed in. I use it as a monitor for my desktop PC and watch all video/tv on it. It's been iffy for a while but I could always get it up and running. Alas no more. There is but one chance to save it says the Internet. Replace 2 capacitors on the processor board that have cured the same fault in other peoples same model. I've opened it up and removed said capacitors but am struggling to find a local source for replacements so I may have to order online. I'm using an old 15 inch CRT monitor as a temporary stand in. Doing the job but a bit naff. I really don't want to spend £250 on a new 32 inch HD LCD. My current one cost me about £500 more than that when I bought it and I'd like it to last just a bit longer.

Zero DIY enthusiasm this weekend but must still spend something like 12-15 hours doing it to get the bathroom finished. Oh Joy!!!!

24 Markets. No reds. An odd week with all the main leagues off in the run up to the euro 2010 qualifiers. My all green week was overshadowed by more tennis stupidity.

Tennis.

Yes I know. What happened to no more tennis?. I got sucked in and did a lot of it on my phone while working. I actually did stunningly well up till Thursday night. Nearly £190 of green. Of course then came crazy flip flop matches like Na Li and Soderling and once again I had the opportunity to get out for tiny red but didn't and ended up taking big hits. Am I incapable of learning?. Am I just plain greedy?.

Very tired this week as well. Back on the Xtrainer 3 mornings this week. I hadn't been on it since January and the weight was climbing. The week of summery weather, with temps reaching 14C in the afternoon, was a warning to shed some bulk.

Another weekend of DIY just 'cause I love it so much. I'll try to catch the evening Euro matches see If I can make my decimated bank a little healthier. Tennis?, Who knows?.

An okay weekend turned bad by tennis madness.

Football.

37 markets. 2 reds of £202.10. Every time I built up a decent green I would get it wiped out. I did my best to stay level headed and for the most part succeeded ending the football with a small green.

Tennis.

After doing so well at staying away from the tennis I fell for Nadalitis. I backed him when he was a set up and of course it all went wrong. I also stayed with him too long as he was still showing flashes of brilliance. Eventually I redded out and them lumped on Djoko which was also a poor decision for all that it worked and reduced my red a little. NO MORE TENNIS!.

Not a catastrophic loss but I could have done without it. Especially as I saw my bank reach morale boosting heights this weekend before being repeatedly cut down again.

My DIY stalled again as unexpected problems cropped up but nothing I can't over come next weekend.

I steered clear of Tennis temptation again, despite big names at Indian Wells. I'm sure Clijisters retirement in the second set when she was a set up probably hit a lot of peoples banks.

I think the Betfair website is still having big problems as lag times seem ridiculous and I often have to click a link twice before it'll load. Hopefully they'll be able to keep it up and running this weekend.

I'll be busy this weekend gutting my bathroom and putting a new one in , with all that entails, and it must take priority over trading I'm afraid.

Is everyone else as sick of winter as I am now?. I know this happens every year and we should all be use to it by now but it's mid-march and after a brief tease of warm weather the snow and freezing winds return. Apparently in a weeks time it'll be warm again. Britain!!!. Of course we shouldn't complain because at least we don't have massive walls of water washing everything away and leaving us with the just the clothes on our backs.

Clearly I've learned nothing!.

Football.

55 markets. 6 reds totalling £1514.69. Yes big gains and even bigger losses. I was all green to the tune of about £240 by the time the first red came on Sunday afternoon. Well over the 4 figure bank mark and yet for some reason I couldn't reign myself in. The junkie hadn't finished with is fix yet. I ended up taking a half bank loss during the West Ham v Liverpool match. I took another big red on a dutch match soon after. Then followed a period of large greens as I chased away like a nutter until the third goal in the Arsenal v Birmingham game cost me nearly everything. I don't think of myself as a petty person but I hope they ritually flogged the keeper and the player with him for that ridiculous fluff that gave Birmingham the goal. Anyway I buggered around with a little over £100 for the rest of the day making greens and taking reds until I end the day with still just over £100 in the bank.

Every time I get near or over the 4 figure bank mark I sabotage myself with this stupidity over and over. Once again I have a long period of rebuilding my bank ahead of me. Will I learn this time?. A question I've asked myself before. Same answer. Who can say.

It's so much worse than it seems.

Football.

33 markets. 3 reds totalling £780.97. I took a normal sized red on Monday. Nothing major, nothing I couldn't easily recover during the rest of the week. For some reason I went daft in the head and began big stake trading to recover it quicker and took a half bank loss that night as well. This should have sobered me up but the chasing continued on Tuesday and I made a big chunk of it up before taking another half bank loss. At this point I'd lost something like 65% of my bank. My meltdown went nuclear and the tennis came in to the picture. Mucho full and half bank trading/gambling made up the rest of the week.

Tennis.

9 matches. No reds. Despite a LOT of full and half bank staking the tennis was kind to me and luck carried the day. There were some nervous points, chief among then when Jankovic began her usual injury theatrics and the market began to panic.

So no one of my finest weeks. Once again I think I got target fixated with me being so close to a 4 figure bank. When that first red came in so early in the week it overcame my common sense. Instead of thinking 'plenty of time, nothing out of the ordinary' I began to think 'MUST MAKE BACK NOW!!!'. Ridiculous. I'm under no illusions that the only reason I still have a bank, and I'm not having to redeposit right now, is sheer luck.
Now comes the hard part. Like any junkie that had his fix I have to now try to reassert some form of discipline and patience. Return to my standard staking plan and not chase any reds that come. Also leave the tennis alone. I'll never get anywhere if I keep doing things like this.

Keep it green everybody.

51 markets. 2 reds totalling £158.30. You would expect a bumper green like that to be red free but I took two on Saturday that square one'd me each time. Stayed in it and kept my cool, for the most part. Approaching the 4 figure bank again. I must try not to get caught up in the milestone though. Each green as it comes.

A quiet weekend otherwise. Just resting and letting my back heal up. It's not hurting as much now but I will still be groaning for most of this week each time I straighten up.
I messaged T-Mobile(spit,spit) regarding the web speeds I mentioned previously. They told me I would have to buy another booster to get the full HSDPA speed. I told them what I thought of that idea. PAC code please!!. I think I'll give Three another bash. They have pretty much the same 30 day rolling deal I have now but with no speed cap. I believe they do charge you for going over FUP but that won't be a problem. I had a Three dongle before that I used to use with my Eeepc for trading on the go but the bandwidth got so poor I chucked them. Let us see if they have improved in the last 18 months.
