Football.
10 Matches traded today. The biggest win coming form an overs trade that I decided to do on Arsenal v Blackburn and a goal in the 2nd min gave me a nice profit and a 5 tick trade on the tale end of the O/U 4.5 market in the last 10 mins gave me a little more.
I had stuck £10 on under 4.5 in the Greek Division 2 Kavala v Agrotikos match. There is a common opinion amongst some that all Greek games are fixed. The odds for under 4.5 were 1.65 and I decided this was worth a trade. There was a goal in the 3rd min and then I got tied up in another game and forgot all about it until the match was over. WTF!!!. The match ended 4-1 losing me my £10 and when I checked the goal record the 2nd goal did not come until the 48th minute. I don't know what the odds were at H/T but I'm sure I could have traded out for a profit If I'd been paying attention.
This was my only loss on the football all other matches came good.
Tennis .
I put my laying strategy into play today on the tennis starting with Andy Murray as I thought he would be a bit rusty from his illness and injury. He did start out slow and his price rose enabling me to get a decent profit from the match. I did the same on the Dementieva match taking a small profit. I could have had a lot more as she lost in the end, another high ranked pro going out early to a low ranker. I layed Tsonga as well but got out for a sub £1 profit when things looked like they could get iffy and I decided to play it safe.
One thing I found on laying is tick value can be much higher than backing. For example I was able to lay Andy Murray for £200 at 1.04 with a liability of only £8. This made each tick worth £2 as opposed to backing him for £50 and making each tick worth £0.50. I could have layed him for £1200 making my liability £48 and still not exceeded my max 20% risk on the tennis. This would have given me a profit of £52.32 instead of £8.72 which is what I got. Perhaps it's my greed coming to the fore again but it's worth considering that laying these short priced favourites in some cases is far better value than backing them.
I did back a few as well to start. Most noticeably Robredo who gave me my other big tennis profit for the day and a couple of other smaller trades.
All in all I'm happy with the days trading.
I followed the bet365 horse offer in the afternoon and paper traded it using the excellent spreadsheet from Alistair over on the betyourlife blog. If you can find the right odds spread this could be a very profitable enterpise. I hope bet365 maintain the offer until I have enough bank to take advantage of it. I'll be following the races again today. For more detailed info visit his blog.
I'm going to go back and edit the P&L sections of my previous posts to include the date they apply to as sometimes I post that night and othertimes I don't post unitl the morning. I don't want to confuse anyone or myself when looking back.
Keep it green everybody.
