9 matches traded , 4 yesterday and 5 today. Good showing.

Tennis.

I wasn't going to do anything with the final but I started watching and at the end of the first set and after Fed broke Potty in the first game of the second I backed Fed on Match Odds and 3-0. I let this go for about 4 games and then realised it was foolish to leave it while I went off to sleep and so I scratched both. THANK GOD!!!. I was relieved when I got up and saw that Potty had turned it around. That could have cost me half my bank if I had been more reckless.

So the US open is over and why not a round up. It's the done thing. 37 markets traded on 26 matches. 31 green , 5 scratched, 1 loss. £49.67 green. Considering I started with a bank of a little over £20 after my losses on Roddck and Blake in the previous tournaments I think it went pretty well. I did play it safe for the most part. I avoided the WTA matches completely except for one quick trade on Ivanovic on the match which she lost in the end. Pity I didn't take more interest in Clijisters progress as she did very well. I did dodge a few bullets like the Murray v Cilic match in which it was only sheer luck I did not back Murray pre-match due to my not paying attention to the start time. I like to think I'm getting more disciplined, with my staking at least.

On the flip side my Footie trading over the same period I ended up with a £2.00 red. 42 markets traded over x number of matches. Only 3 losses but they totalled £17.32. I need to reign in these football losses. I need to stop pressing when the markets are iffy. I need to be more patient.

Football.

Considering that my red for football on Saturday came to £10.83 I think I did well. 22 markets traded over the 3 days. Only 3 matches traded on Friday for a little green. 14 markets traded on Saturday took a loss on the Japanese game, Ho Hum!. The second loss came from the Stoke City v Chelsea, I kind of pushed it a bit and had a feeling that it was going to happen from the way the money was moving or should I say disappearing from the back end. Took my red and moved on.
I was out for most of Sunday so I only got 4 matches done for small green. Not a bad weekend.

Tennis.

All that from 2 Nadal matches. When the Nadal v Gonzalez match finally started again Nadal had it in hand and I got a large green on Set betting. I had no position on Nadal v Del Potro but as Del Potro broke Nadal again in the second I backed Potty on Match Odds and a game later on 3-0. I got him at 1.85 on 3-0, as Potty broke Nadal in the second game of the third set I saw the price at 1.19 and I decided to get out and take the safe green. As I pushed the hedge button money got taken at 1.27 and my hedge was put in at that loping 15% off my green. It's like comedy, timing is everything. Felt a bit sorry for Nadal but I'm sure he'll be back for the Australian Open or maybe he'll be out for Spain in the Davis Cup semi's, who knows. Fed v Djoko 1st set has gone to tie break which Fed took and it's neck and neck the 2nd. I'm not staying up for this, I've got to get up at a ludicrous hour in the morning for work.

5 international matches traded for small green. To be honest I was paying more attention to the tennis.

Tennis.

Only a small green on Djoko v Verdasco set betting to begin with. I didn't really know where that match was going to go until it was nearly there and by then there was little left to get. I was pretty sure of a Fed victory over Soderling and so I backed him and left a hedge out at 1.01 before heading to bed, it came good.
Del Potro v Cilic was another of those matches that could have led to big loss. I started with a Back of Potty at the start of his serve intending to tade out at the end but I asked for too many ticks and ended up scratching it as it went into Cilic serve. This turned out to be a good thing as Potty lost the first set and prices reversed. I backed Cilic a break up in the second set and got out again 10 ticks later but did not hedge. Then Potty begin his comebackand takes the second. In the third with Potty going strong I backed him again and when he won the third I backed him in 3-1 and stuck green outs in at 1.01 on both which came good giving me my large green for the night.
I stayed up for the Nadal v Gonzales match hoping for a swift Nadal victory, LOL. I foolishly backed Nadal at 1.12 when he took the TB and then watched in horror as the price rose to 1.3 during the medical timeout. I stuck a scratch in at 1.12 and crossed my piggies. With the rain stopping play and a long night ahead I fell asleep. I awoke this morning to find it had gone to TB again before play stopped. Fortunately my scratch was taken so I'm clear. I don't know whether I'll be going back in on this match or not. I probably won't as it's likely to be played early and I'll be working.

Tennis.

Monday started with 3-0 on Federer against Robredo for a nice green. I then did small match odds and set betting trades on Verdasco v Isner. I think I was pushing a bit because I knew I couldn't stay up for Djokovic v Stepanek, still all green in the end.
On Tuesday I backed Del Potro at 1.12 with the intention of riding it all the way to 1.01. When I got home from work and it was at 1.02 I was chuffed, but then it started to rise again and I dumped it at 1.04, I need not have worried but still all green. I had not backed Murray pre-match as I thought it wasn't starting until I got home from work. Thank god I didn't. I was sure that Cilic wouldn't pose Murray any problems and I don't know what the problem was in the end with Murray. That could have been a big loss if I had backed it pre-match. I did small trades on Cilic in Match Odds and 3-0. I only made small green and I could have had more but I was nervous of a Murray comeback and scratched so many trades. In retrospect I should probably have left it alone. I couldn't stay up for Nadal v Monfils which was a shame as Nadal price was huge even considering his recent form. Judging by the score it was a tight first set to Monfils then Nadal all the way.

Lots of football on today on the international front. Djoko v Verdasco will be my only tennis look of today as Federer v Soderling is on too late.

Tennis.

Today's trading was limited to a single trade on Del Potro v Melzer giving me a green of £0.85. The Murray v Capedeville match was on when I got home but I was so busy making and eating dinner that I did not get on it before Murray took the third set 6-0 after losing the second and there was little safe value that I could see. I then fell asleep at the start of the Nadal match so nothing done there.

Football.

I had not done much football trading during the week so was hoping for a good Saturday. Things started well enough with trades on S Korea v Australia and Charlton v Brentford. Unfortunately I got caught out on an after goal trade on Netherlands v Japan and had to red out for £6.49 loss. I did get £1.37 of it back on the O/U 3.5 market but to be honest I was chasing a bit and it was a bad move regardless of how it worked out. I managed small trades on 6 other matches recouping half my loss.

Tennis.

I backed Fed 3-0 against Hewitt at the start of the match and didn't green out when I had a chance, got too greedy after football loss, and had to red out when it started to go south in the 1st set , lost £5.25. Thankfully I was only using 25% stakes or it could have been worse. I did take green on Djoko v Witten in Match Odds and 3-1. I scratched a Soderling trade and decided not to go back in and that was me for the night.

Tennis.

A bit of a nail biter at times on Nadal v Alamgro what with all the breaks of serve. 7 breaks out of 12 serves in the first set, 4 in a row before Nadal held to win the set. More in the second. I was on Match odds and 3-0. Greened the 3-0 early and rode the Match Odds to 1.01. Rafa still not at his best and Almagro at times brilliant only to play like a total mug a second later. In Del Potro v Koellerer I started on 3-0 and once again I did not green out when I had a chance and was humming and hawing when the price rose. Thankfully I was able to scratch it when it came back down before Del Potro lost the second. I went back in on 3-1 as he wont he third and greened it early when he began to look iffy again in the 4th. Even though he did go on to take it I'm happy enough to have greened out early.

So, a penny. I should be happy that it's not a red but it still seems so little for 3 days effort. I haven't decided if I will be staying up for the Murray v Dent match. Probably won't as it's just too late when you have work in the morning.

Tennis.

Only 4 matches traded over the past 2 days. Nadal v Gasquet I was on Match odds and when that all green I went in on 3-0 which went green as well. I did the same on Del Potro v Monaco but for lesser stakes. I did a Match Odds trade on Verdasco v Serra which I cut early rather than carry to the finish. A 3-0 trade on Djoko rounded out the 2 days for me.

So a decent couple of days. I'm still being very cagey about who I back, except for some moments of madness. I have kept away from the WTA despite eyeing it occasionally while waiting for ATP matches. Thankfully the losses of Deme and Jankovic and the struggle that Safina has had to win each match has made me more resolute on the WTA issue.
Today there is Nadal, Murray, and Del Potro matches. Hope to see some consistent play. The weekend football is all international on Saturday with next to nothing on Sunday.

It's been raining for 36 hours straight and looks set to continue for the rest of today, I'm a little tired of working in the wet. Woe!!!

2 days in to the US open.

Football.

Just one match traded. Newcastle V Leicester. Nothing remarkable. Football has been a bit scarce last couple of nights.

Tennis.

A bit of a struggle to find decent 'value' so far, depending on your definition I suppose. Some of the lesser seeds that are likely to win I have shied away from if they have too low a match odds price and couldn't justify a 3-0, and of course then I have my moments of greedy madness. At work during the beginning of a lot of early matches and have to monitor intermittently so I have let a lot of possibilities go. This is probably a good thing, even though most of those possibilities won, I must try and not press desperately.
Having said that I did trade Robredo and Soderling which could have been a risk. My match odds trade of Djoko completed at the start of the third and I switched to trading 3-0 which also came green. I foolishly backed Serra 3-0 when he was 2-0 and 5-2 up and had a nervous finish to a scratch when it went to a tie break. I should have known not to touch him with the previous two being tie breaks and the tiny amount matched on 3-0 giving and indication of how the market felt about him. I had a moment of WTA madness when I backed Ivanovic and out for 1 tick in the second set. It's a good thing I wasn't greedy as she went downhill after that. STAY AWAY FROM WTA!!!!. I couldn't stay up for Murray v Guibis but left a trade in place for it for just a couple of ticks. I was tempted by 3-0 but remembering how easy it is for Murray to lose a set and how it has cost me before I abstained. He did win in 3 but two of the sets were 7-5 so not a bad decision. I could not bring myself to touch Blake or Roddick after the losses last week.

Nadal match today. I didn't back him in the winner market like I was considering so it's guaranteed he'll shorten to evens, HaHa. I'm sure he won't want to go down to Gasquet in the 1st round. 3-0 though?. Will probably abstain again. Del Potro and Fed later in the evening to keep an eye on. A lot of other possibles that I'm not sure I want to risk money on.
